Bjarke Ingels is an architect extraordinaire from Denmark. He focuses on making structures that are sustainable and add to the enjoyment of people’s lives. His list of projects are very impressive and include Google’s Corporate Headquarter and consulting on Two World Trade Center in NYC.
He says “The interesting thing about architecture and urbanism is that we (architects) are not really the creators of the city, we are rather like the midwives. Essentially, we assist the city in giving birth to itself. You can’t as an architect say now I want to build X to house X…. Instead, it’s the other way around. There is a need and desire and now we translate those concerns, demands, and needs into physical form” (this is paraphrasing, not exact).
